My Progress

Throughout the college year, I believe I have improved and furthered my knowledge, especially when it comes to the different programs, which we have used throughout the year. As a result of using programs such as Visual Basic, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel, I have been able to further my knowledge, as throughout my units, I was required to use these programs, and although I have used them before, I wasn't very familiar with them, especially as they were 2007 versions. Units where I used programs which helped me to further my knowledge, include Unit 5 Database and Unit 18 Programming. Without having the opportunity to familiarise myself with these programs, I feel that I would not have been able to finish my 1st year of my course successfully.

As I was doing an ICT course, it involved alot of computer work/activities, and this meant that I could familiarise myself with all the different aspects of a computer, from software programs to hardware. This helped me to establish an understanding of the general running and use of a computer system.

However, I do feel that I could listen in class more and I feel that I should improve on the way in which I speak and address my fellow class mates. Judy has already spoke to me about this situation, and I feel that she has helped me to understand where I am lacking in depth. I feel that I do need to improve on this, as in a working environment, people may perceive me in a wrong manner. Also, I feel that I have learnt new jargon and definitions of key words, and I feel I have improved on my terminology throughout the year, as a result of studying hard and intaking what the lecturers say. Furthermore, I believe speaking to Judy has enabled me to learn new words and more sophisticated and intellectual vocabulary, as she has addressed the use of my vocab from before, as it wasn't as professional as it could have been.

Overall I feel the college year has gone well, and I have learnt many new things, which will help me in the future, especially if I plan to go to university or go on to work within the IT sector. However, I do feel there is still some room for improvement, as I have stated previously, especially in the speaking area. I will take this all into consideration and I feel this will help me to become a better and more professional young man in the future.

Coursework Review

On Thursday 23rd June, I handed in all my coursework for every unit that I was given throughout the year. I had already completed my unit 2,3,5,6 and18, but I was required to complete the feedback for my unit 3 assignment 1, unit 6 assignment 1, unit 15 assignment 1 and 2, unit 34 assignment 2 and 3 and unit 35 assignment 1, 2 and 3. Once I completed this, I handed it all in to the required lecturers.

I have now finished all the coursework and waiting to find out my results.

Overview Of This Week

This week I have received feedback from Anna for Unit 35, and she has told me what I am required to do in the feedback. She has also given me extra guidance as we had a one - on - one during our class session yesterday.

Louis has also told me this week that our coursework has to be in for the beginning of next week, and to ensure that I bring in all the coursework so that he can mark it and put it in my folder.

At this moment in time, I am currently completing Unit 15 Assignment 2 and touching up Assignment 1 for the same unit. Also, I am touching up Unit 34 Assignment 2 and 3 and Unit 35 Assignment 1 and 2.

10th June 2011 - Review

Today, I have been told by my lecturer Judy, that I need to add more blogs/posts to my blogger, and also make a summary of all blogs.

So as of today, I am going to hopefully start posting regularly, so my blogger is up to date.

Today I am going to complete Judy's blogging task, so that I can have it done and completed by the end of half term, which is in a week from today.

Received Feedback

Today I received my unit 1, assignment 1 back from my teacher. When I received my assignment, my teacher gave me feedback, and explained what corrections I would need to make to my first submission.

As a result, I have now been allocated time to make these corrections and give this back to my teacher, as a final submission.
